Breast Cancer It’s important for women to go to their doctors and have an annual breast exam as breast cancer is the most common form of cancer in women and claims around 458,400 lives each year. 9. Second Place Cancer takes the lives of many individuals each year but it’s actually heart disease that is the number one cause of death throughout the world. Cancer is the second leading cause of death. 8. Foreshadowing By taking data from the number of people who lost the battle to cancer in 2008, it’s been estimated that by 2030 there will be around 21.4 million new cancer cases expected. 7. Identifying Cancer There are two main characteristics that researchers use to identify cancer. One of them being the sign of abnormal cell growth and the other is if the cancer is able to metastasis or spread. 6. In The Lead It’s known that approximately 1 in 8 fatalities is caused by some form of cancer and that the diseases causes more fatalities than malaria, AIDS, and tuberculosis all combined. 5. This uncontrollable division is what leads to healthy body tissue being destroyed. 4. Mystery Meat Hot dogs and lunch meats are filled with chemical additives that are called nitrates. These nitrates turn into carcinogens that cause cancer once they react with the body's own chemicals. Stop eating these. 3. Smoking This nasty habit is the cause for what is believed to be 90 percent of lung cancer and has contributed to the fatalities of more than 50 million individuals in the past ten years. 2. Get More Sleep It’s proven that if you’re getting less than six hours of sleep per night you’re more at risk of developing colon cancer.
